1. Reflecting on Of Mice and Men
a. Explain George's perspective for what he did to Lennie.
- I think George's perspective to what he did to Lennie is that he believed that Lennie was to much trouble and also he didn't want Lennie to suffer in jail. I also think that George didn't want Lennie to get shot by Curley. I think if I were in George's position I would have made the same choice. I say that because there is nothing else better for Lennie. Don't you think that George was getting tired of having to find a new job just for Lennie to stay with a job. So I think George made the rite decision for Lennie's fate even though Lennie didn't want it that way.
b. Do you think that was the best thing to do for Lennie?
- Well in my opinion I think that wasn't the thing for Lennie because he didn't know how to control he's strength and was a misunderstood person. I also believe that George wouldn't be able to just run away again and find a little place like Lennie wanted. But unfortunately there was nothing else George could have done to help Lennie. I think that because if they try to run away together Curley and the other men would eventually find them and shoot them both. Even though they still had a chance to escape if they find another job you never know that Lennie is going to do something similar to what he did again George would have to be jobless again but if he didn't have Lennie he would easily find a good job. So that is why that was the best thing for Lennie's fate.
2. Father in Italy Accused of Murder
a. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain the father's reasons for what he did.
- Beppino Englaro had done his actions to his daughter Eluana because "that was her wish". The father's reasons for his actions was that he must have felt bad for his daughter's suffering. He had been trying for ten years just to complete his daughter's wishes. I think if i were Eluana's father i would had made to same choice. In my opinion that quote says it all because as a father Beppino wanted to complete his daughter's wishes.
b. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain if that was the best thing to do for the daughter.
- In my opinion euthanasia was the best thing for Eluana Beppino's daughter. "Beppino Englaro, won an intense 10-year battle to allow his daughters feeding tubes to be removed." That was the best thing for Eluana because she had wanted that fate. Beppino in my opinion did a really good job helping his daughter succeed in her wish. If I were Beppino i think i wouldn't be able to spend 10-years of my life even if i wanted too. So that is why I think that was the best thing for Eluana Englaro.
c. Do you agree or disagree with what the father did? Why?
- I actually agree with the decision of Eluana's father. I agree because there was nothing better for Beppino to do then just let his daughter suffer for the rest of her life not being happy. I think if I were Eluana i would want the same fate. I say that because the majority of the people in the world like to live a free life and not stay in a hospital for almost there whole life. So give I would
3. Man Kills Family after Losing his Job
a. Imagine and list things that might have been going through the father's mind as he contemplated his "mercy" killing. (In the article, the father's suicide note gives specific evidence of why he did what he did. Elaborate on it.) Specifically, what could he have been negative or paranoid about?
- Well i think the Father did what he did because he had believed that there was nothing better to do for his children. What i mean by that is since he was going threw some hard times he wasn't thinking well and was mad for loosing his job and I'm guessing he didn't want Foster care for his children. Also since the economy was so bad he was worried he wasn't going to be able to find a other good job. In my opinion the father must have been paranoid
about not being able to give his children the life he wanted them to have because he had lost his job.
b. Unfortunately, with America's failing economy, many professionals are losing their jobs. While many do not resort to something as extreme as the man in the article, it does cause stress within families. What are some ways that parents can support children (to succeed in life) that do NOT require money?
- In my opinion there ain't much someone can do if they are in a situation of loosing there jobs. But that shouldn't end up with a solution of killing yourself and you family. What I think you can do in that situation is just sell your house for a smaller place to just feed yourself and your family until you clean stuff up and find a nice well paid job. What the most important thing is just care about your family at least that is what I think is most important in a family. Just that is what a family needs to succeed in life.
